The Wyllieum is home to the largest collection of artworks by George Wyllie on display anywhere in the world. In our bespoke collections gallery, visitors to The Wyllieum can learn more about George’s major works including The Straw Locomotive (1987), The Paper Boat (1989), and A Day Down A Goldmine (1982) while also exploring some of his lesser known masterpieces such as his series Hand Hollow (1981) made while in residence at George Rickey’s Massachusetts studio or his magnificent Staten Island Ferry (1998). Brought together for the first time in over a decade, our collection display will take visitors on a journey through Wyllie’s mind, exploring the wide range of subjects that George tackled.

The Wyllieum is grateful for the support of Dunard Fund and The George Wyllie Estate in bringing this collection together, an effort that without their generosity would have been impossible.
